Classic Dress Making
Led by Jean Stewart
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a new special dress to wear that fit’s you perfectly, is exactly the right color and is made from fabric that you love?
Join me for 3 sessions where you will create a beautiful classic style dress and learn intermediate to advanced dress making techniques.
We will be using the dress pattern Vogue 9167. This pattern comes with various options in the skirt and sleeves allowing you to choose a silhouette that matches your individual taste and style.
We will begin with taking your measurements, transfer those to the pattern, make a “muslin” to further perfect the fit of the dress. We will then lay out the pattern, cut and mark and finally begin to stitch your beautiful dress together. During this class you will learn some basic flat pattern alterations, many different hand stitching, finishing and hemming techniques. How to work with different fabrics and most importantly how to sew a garment that looks professionally made and fits you to a tee.
Student must be familiar with their machine, able to sew a straight seam, have basic sewing knowledge and made at least one garment previously.
