Custom House Coat
A custom House Coat (Bath Robe) is a personalized garment that begins when you choose the perfect fabric, make desired pattern alterations and sewn together utilizing professional quality techniques. So why not make a Custom House Coat for yourself, a loved one or the whole family.
This class (three 3-hour sessions) utilizes the Kimono Robe pattern from PALMER/PLETSCH. This unisex pattern for teens to adults comes in five sizes and is designed for beginning sewists (Advanced Beginner).
Jayne will teach you how to make this robe with or without the use of a Serger. Bring your sewing machine in good working order or use a classroom model. Learn to apply knit sewing techniques; use sewing machine stitches to replicate the commercial serged seam, use a twin needle on your sewing machine to topstitch or use a store Serger/Coverstitch to finish & stabilize raw edges and topstitch.
- Day 1: Trace pattern, make desired pattern alterations, cut out fabric.
- Day 2: Sew pockets, belt, belt loops & shoulder seams.
- Day 3: Attach sleeves, side seams, front band, hem sleeves & bottom.
Fabrics: So many options from lightweight to warm, cozy & absorbent! Woven: Cotton & cotton blends, gauze, waffle, flannel, flannel backed satin, seersucker, oxford, chambray, linen, chenille, terry cloth, etc. Knit Fabrics: Sherpa (pictured), anti-pill fleece, minky, velour, jersey, sweatshirt, french terry, etc.
Kimono Robe: Robe has a tie belt, front band and pockets. Choose between 3 lengths (Long, Medium & Short), with or without a contrast band. See Supply List for sizing & yardage.
Pattern is not included in the class fee but available for purchase at Montavilla Sewing Centers. 15% class participant discount can be used to purchase pattern.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
