Men's Button-Up Shirt
Led by Jason Dallam
This course will guide you through the process of constructing a men’s button-up shirt with short sleeves. The class will be four 3-hour sessions. We will be working with the Burda Style Men’s Shirt Pattern #6349. During class, we will create a well-fitted shirt from start to finish (based on your size), covering each step in detail. Instruction will include: pattern tracing, creating a muslin mock-up, fitting adjustments, and pattern modifications.
Key sewing techniques covered will include: sewing a placket with buttonholes, pattern-matching for the pocket, crafting a clean hem, setting-in a collar and collar stand, hand-basting, and topstitching.
Prerequisites:
To join this intermediate level course, you’ll need a solid foundation in sewing. You should have experience constructing garments and feel comfortable working with commercial patterns. It is important that you can confidently navigate your sewing machine and troubleshoot common issues. If you are familiar with techniques like finishing seams, hemming, and basic garment construction, you’ll be set up for success!

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
