T-Shirt Quilt 101

This is a 2-day class to help you plan and create a t-shirt quilt; perfect for graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, and special memories.
For the first class you just need to bring you and your imagination; we will be discussing the technical side: supplies needed, preparation of shirts, what you can use, colors, etc. If you have questions about shirts (are they usable or need advice), please feel free to bring them. I will have a sample that shows a basic t-shirt quilt, but you are welcomed to create your own!
Over the week your homework is using the class information to prepare your shirts, decide your pattern, then bring them to the next class and start sewing! This is a strong beginner friendly class, and basic sewing skills are needed.
Reminder: I have included supplies needed for making the quilt, but you do not need to bring them on Day 1. We will go over each item, and if there is something you need, don’t forget you will receive a 15% class discount when purchasing from Montavilla Sewing. Supply List
- Cotton thread 50wt
- Ballpoint or Jersey needle 70-90
- 75/11 machine quilting needle
- Single hole needle plate is preferred
- Feather weight fusible interfacing
- Optional: large square ruler (mine is 20.5) This will depend on the size of your blocks.
- Large fabric scissors
- Ironing cloth
- Basic sewing supplies; rotary cutter, mat, machine, cords
- Fabrics for sashing, cornerstones, borders

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
