Amanda Murphy - Free-Motion Quilting and Ruler Work

Amanda Murphy is a quilt and fabric designer whose style bridges the modern and traditional. Her quilting is known for its innovative combination of rulerwork, free-motion, and automated designs. She is a BERNINA Expert and Quilting and Longarm Spokesperson, and the designer behind an extensive line of quilting products, including fabric, patterns, books, and online classes.

In Amanda's class, you will learn to make a real visual impact by creating this beautiful 18-inch Trapunto table topper with floral motifs. Amanda will teach you how to combine ruler work, free-motion, and a simple Trapunto technique to create texture and dimension on an elegant 18-inch hexagonal table topper with floral motifs. You’ll love the way this combination of techniques makes your quilting sing and you’ll go home inspired to apply the technique to many projects!

Connie Fanders - Embroidery with the Bernina 990

Connie Fanders has been involved in the sewing industry her entire career. Currently, Connie travels the United States teaching sewing enthusiasts sewing, quilting and embroidery tips and tricks using BERNINA products and launching the new BERNINA 990. Teaching how to use BERNINA products to their fullest potential by breaking down how the features work and their purpose is Connie’s expertise.

In Connie's class, you'll discover the new features that make the BERNINA 990 the ultimate machine, while creating an embellishing a unique fabric panel. See first hand how the 14" of space to the right of the needle provides ample space for big, beautiful projects and the new 10-inch touch screen with gesture capabilities and text descriptions makes navigating the machine easier than ever.

Pam Mahshie - Overlock & Coverstitch Techniques

Pam Mahshie is the Business Manager for Overlocker Machines with BERNINA of America. She leads product development directly with BERNINA factories, positions and trains BERNINA dealers and works with the Education Department to create fun & exciting events. She has also appeared on numerous PBS programs including Sewing with Nancy, Martha’s Sewing Room and Quilting with Marianne and Mary Fons.

In Pam's class, you'll create a quilted flying geese table runner completely on the Bernina L890 Overlock & Coverstitch machine! We will use both sides of the machine - we will create our Flying Geese and do the piecing with help of the overlock stitch, then we'll use the chain stitch & cover stitch to embellish the center.

Megann Freese - Sewing Techniques and Accessories

Megann's mother and grandmother taught her how to sew at the age of five, and encouraged her to practice her new skills by joining 4-H and creating garments, quilts, and crafts to be judged at the county fair. Megann graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, and has been an Educator for BERNINA of America since 2019.

In Megann's class, you'll learn about different sewing tips, techniques, and stitches, while exploring the wide selection of presser feet available to make your sewing life easier.

Kimberly Dodson & PJ Wong - Embroidery Tips, Notions, & Software

Kimberly Dodson spent several years teaching multiple brands of embroidery machines and digitizing software for Montavilla, and is now the sales manager for OESD. She brings, not only technical knowledge, but an uncanny ability to connect with her students’ needs.

PJ Wong has been a teacher at Montavilla Sewing Centers since 2006. She designs, produces, and teaches various clubs at Montavilla, creating projects, designs, and patterns that incorporate techniques and products to encourage the students to get the most out of their sergers or embroidery machines.

In Kimberly & PJ's class, you'll learn embroidery tips while working on a lined and embroidered zip pouch, created completely in-the-hoop using the embroidery functions of the Bernina 790 PRO. You'll learn about hooping & stabilizing techniques, design editing & placement, and how easy & useful it can be to incorporate embroidery software into your workflow.

All machines and project supplies will be provided for all classes, plus lunch and snacks for all three days, so you don't need to bring anything.
